Delivery Policy

(1) Introduction

This delivery policy gives details of the delivery methods, delivery periods and delivery charges that apply to any orders for our products made through our website.

This policy is not intended to and does not create legally enforceable rights and obligations.  It merely indicates our usual practice in relation to the delivery of products.

(2) Delivery methods

We will deliver to mainland UK only.

Depending upon the nature of the product or products you order you will be able to select from the following delivery methods:

reserve and collect one of our 19 branches, the branch to be selected by you;

local home delivery of garden machinery products to your home address on mainland UK within our selected post code areas; and

postal or courier delivery of small machinery product and most non machinery products.

Contractual agreements with our garden machinery suppliers mean that we must demonstrate the product to you in person and we must explain safety considerations to you, must show you how to start and operate the machine and must start the machine up for you and demonstrate that it runs.

If the address for delivery of your order is not a UK mainland address, then we will be unable to accept the order.

If you have selected local delivery and your postcode is outside our ‘selected post code areas’, you will be asked to select a branch from which to reserve and collect your order.

Our ‘selected post code areas’ reflect geographical locations within close proximity to at least one of our 19 UK branches.

(3) Delivery periods

We will endeavour to fulfil your order within 3 to 5 working days of receiving cleared payment. Where click and collect is selected, we will notify you as soon as the product is available for collection as we may need to draw stock from a different branch – again please allow up to 5 days for purchases to become available for collection. For postal orders, we shall endeavour to despatch your order as soon as practicable, dependent on stock availability.

Please note our dispatch method depends on availability and we do include your invoice in a documents pocket attached to the item, which acts also as a shipping label. This will show the contents of your order. If you do not wish for this to be shown as it is a gift, please let us know and we will be happy to help.

If you place your order before 2pm on a working day, these periods run from the close of business on that day. If you place your order after 2pm on a working day, or on a non-working day, these periods run from the close of business on the next following working day.

These periods are indicative only, and whilst we will make every effort to ensure that you receive your delivery in good time, we do not guarantee delivery before the end of the specified period.

If you purchase a high value product from us, we will usually conduct fraud screening checks before dispatching the product. These may delay the expected date for delivery.  Where the delivery date is delayed as a result of fraud screening checks, we will notify you by email.

(4) Delivery charges

Delivery charges will be calculated and automatically applied to your order during the checkout process.  The applicable charges will depend upon:

the delivery method you select;

the location of the delivery address; and

(6) Additional deliveries and collection

If an initial delivery attempt is unsuccessful, our courier delivery service providers will leave a card at your address, with instructions on how you may collect your product. Such instructions will include a time limit for collection.

(7) Delivery problems

If you experience any problems with a delivery, please contact us by email to enquiry@ernestdoe.com by telephone on 01245 383565

If our delivery service provider is unable to deliver your products, and such failure is your fault, and you do not collect your products from our delivery service provider within the time specified on the card left at your address, then we may agree to arrange for re-delivery of the products, providing that we reserve the right to charge you for the actual costs of re-delivery even where the initial delivery was free-of-charge.

An indicative list of the situations where a failure to deliver will be your fault is set out below:

you provided the wrong address for delivery;

there is a mistake in the address for delivery that was provided;

the address for delivery is not reasonably accessible;

the address for delivery cannot safely be accessed;

where in person receipt is required, there is no person available at the address for delivery to accept delivery and provide a signature.
